All ages love to enjoy a juicy smash burger and making them at home just got a lot easier and healthier! My husband, Josh has worked to perfect the best at-home smash burger and now you can too! Grab a cold one and jump into summer dinner with his crowd pleasing recipe!
Ingredients:
2 pounds of Grass-fed ground beef; divided into quarter pound balls
1 thinly sliced yellow onion
Maldon Salt Flakes
Ground Black Pepper
Ground Garlic Powder
Cheddar Cheese Slices
Burger Buns
Optional additions: Finely chopped jalapeño
Burger Toppings of your choice: mayo, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, pickles, tomato, etc.
Instructions:
Heat griddle to high heat
Place small handfuls of onions (and jalapeños if using) on griddle approximately 6 inches apart
Place a ball of meat on top of each onion mound
Take a piece of parchment paper and place on top of a ball of meat, then take your press and press down to flatten the meat until thin
Sprinkle to your liking a good amount of the salt, pepper and garlic powder on top of the smashed meat
Cook for about 2 minutes and then flip, ensuring to scrap all the smashed goodness up as you flip
Finish cooking additional 1 minute then top with a slice of cheese and continue to cook one more minute
Remove patties placing two at a time on a bun creating a double smashed
Top with your favorite toppings and Enjoy!!
*Optional: We like to toast our buns
